EMERGENCY services were called to a crash between five vehicles on a North Yorkshire motorway.

North Yorkshire Police were called to the A1(M), between Junction 46 for Wetherby and Junction 47, Boroughbridge, at about 7.30pm on Monday.

A spokesperson for the Force Control Room said vehicles were left stuck in the carriageway following the crash.

Speaking on Tuesday, a police spokeswoman said the crash happened after "a trailer came off a vehicle and ended up on the central reservation, resulting in five vehicles being damaged".

The spokeswoman said nobody was injured in the crash, but the road was closed for about three hours to allow Highways to clear debris from the crash scene.

The road was fully reopen by 10.20pm.
