A YORK restaurant and a tourist attraction near the city triumphed at this year’s White Rose Awards.

The awards celebrate tourism across Yorkshire.

Skosh, a restaurant on Micklegate, was named ‘Restaurant of the Year’, while the team at York Maze, in Elvington, scooped the Outstanding Customer Service Award.

Meanwhile, Haxby Bakehouse was highly commended in the Producers and Makers category.

Neil Bentinck, Skosh’s head chef and owner, said: “To be recognised for this title after just a couple of years of trading is a tremendous credit to myself and the whole team at Skosh.

“I feel very fortunate to have such a dedicated and hard working team who share my vision for the restaurant, and this award is a fine acknowledgement of that.”

Tom Pearcy, York Maze owner, said: “It is a huge honour to win this award.

“I am so immensely proud of each and every member of the York Maze team who go out of their way to ensure our visitors have an amazing day out.

“I’d also like to thank our visitors who took the time to leave a review or email to compliment the staff."
