Ray Theakston’s lead letter in The Press on Friday (City stadium is a ‘dull’ design, November 9), was spot on. The city stadium is a dull, uninspiring and uninspired design. To me it’s just a souped-up and tidied up version of that “scrap-heap challenge” in Piccadilly known as Spark:York. Maybe, however, it is a home fit for those footballing heroes, York City.
Mr Theakston goes on to express his appreciation of letters contributions from Matthew Laverack on this kind of topic and notes the absence of council responses. Well observed! Why is that?
Mind you, I don’t blame them. If I was a ‘West Officer’ or city councillor I’d quake if the ‘Laverack laser’ and logic shone on me, threatening to throw me off course and script with relevant, reasonable and on-target questions.
