A GROUP kickboxers, supported by Malton and Norton Lions Club, have returned victorious from international competitions.

The team, who train at the United Martial Arts College in Malton, under black belt Tony Dias, travelled to Portugal and Jamaica and came back with two golds and two silver medals.

Tony said: “Theo Sawdon, eight, travelled to Montego Bay in Jamaica to defend his current title in ISKA World Kickboxing Championships in September and won gold and little brother, six-year-old Toby, who was competing in his first World Championships, won silver. Denim Burdett, 12, also won gold in his age group.

“Father and son, Kevin and Isaac Crombie, 15, travelled to the

WMO World Championship in Portugal, with Kevin securing a silver medal.

“We are delighted with the

results. It’s brilliant to know that this home-grown talent, trained

right here in Malton, can compete and succeed on an international stage.

“We are very grateful to Malton and Norton Lions Club for supporting the lads to travel to these international competitions; we couldn’t have done it without this much appreciated support.”

Steve Sidaway, president of

Malton and Norton Lions Club,

said: “The Lions were delighted to support the lads with a grant towards their travel and we are thrilled that they have been so successful and returned to Malton with a great haul of medals.”
