CUSTOMERS at a York supermarket were unable to pay for goods by debit or credit cards today, after a vehicle reportedly struck a cabinet housing fibre optic cables.
A Sainsbury's spokesman said the incident at Monks Cross Shopping Park affected card payments at its Monks Cross store, adding: "We’re apologising to customers for the inconvenience while engineers work to restore service to the area as soon as possible."
Sources claimed a vehicle hit a cabinet in New Lane near an Aldi store.
