LEGENDARY Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood is set to rock the Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne next week.

The 71-year-old musician has been revealed as a special guest of Dorset-based performer Ben Waters who is presenting A Night of Chuck Berry on Tuesday, November 13 at 7.30pm.

Theatre director Charlie North Lewis said: “I am absolutely thrilled and delighted about this. It’s such a privilege personally, and for the theatre, and many thanks to Ben for arranging it. This is the third Rolling Stone to have played here in the past 16 and a half years.”

He added: “This is a chance to see the show before its two night sold out residency at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Club in London.”

Ben who lives in West Dorset, said he first met Ronnie when they worked together on a tribute album to The Rolling Stones’ former pianist Ian Stewart around six years ago.

“Ronnie is brilliant to work with. He makes a song sound like a record after just one take. I bumped into Ronnie and his wife Sally who I’ve known for years in Prague recently and we talked about putting together a tribute to Chuck Berry.

“Ronnie said he was a lifelong fan and that he knew every single Chuck Berry song so he was keen to get involved and it went from there. I expect he will be performing some of the more obscure Chuck Berry numbers too.

“We needed somewhere to perform together before the Ronnie Scott gig so I immediately thought of the Tivoli as I know Charlie North Lewis is such a big Stones fan.”

Ben has also worked with Ray Davies, Jools Holland, Jerry Lee Lewis, Shakin’ Stevens, Bobby Womack, Mick Hucknall, Charlie Watts, Paul Weller, Dave Gilmore, Dave Stewart and Nine Below Zero.

His cousin is award-winning singer and songwriter Polly Harvey and he won Best Boogie Woogie pianist 2016.

Singer Imelda May is believed to be one of his other guests who will perform a few numbers at the Tivoli too.

Ben added: “When you work with Ronnie, you never know who else might turn up!”
