POLICE received a number of reports of anti-social behaviour involving youths on 'Mischief Night' in York yesterday (November 4).

In total, there were 11 reports of anti-social behaviour across York between 5pm and midnight yesterday, North Yorkshire Police said.

"These involved youths throwing eggs and stones at properties and letting off fireworks," a spokesman for the force added.

"While the number of such incidents was relatively low which reflects the proactive neighbourhood policing approach in the city, they nevertheless cause serious distress and alarm to those affected."

Anyone with information about those involved in the incidents should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

North Yorkshire Police's York South team tweeted that there were reports of youths throwing eggs and stones at properties in the Woodthorpe and Foxwood areas, and one property was damaged.

In another tweet, the team said there had been a report of youths "causing issues" on Foxwood Lane.

The team also said that there had been a report of youths "rampaging" through Rowntree Park. Officers attended but there were no youths in the park, the team added.

In addition, it tweeted that there was a report of youths "causing issues" in bin sheds on Princess Drive on the Sovereign Park Estate.

The youths left before officers arrived, the team said.
