Paul Hepworth mentioned in his letter about Scarborough Bridge (Great potential in bridge upgrade work, Letters, October 29) the prospect of encouraging more short distance local travel by bike when the bridge upgrade is done.
But what about the potholes and uneven surfaces of the roads either side of the bridge and Bootham Park Hospital?
It certainly wouldn’t be a pleasurable ride.
City of York Council’s contribution to the upgrade of the bridge is yet more money towards something that could wait.
Prioritising should be key, taking into account the council tax we are paying.
City of York Council has released far too much money on projects that were needless and that is the point that Mr Knowles (Letters, October 26) was making.
We need the roads resurfacing now, something that should have been done two or more years ago.
