NEWS that Channel 4 will bring their national headquarters to Leeds is "fantastic" for York, according to the leader of City of York Council.
The national broadcaster will move to the Leeds City Region, which York is a part of, and is expected to bring 1,285 jobs and £1.2 billion to the area over the next 10 years.
Cllr Ian Gillies said the move will benefit York's residents, businesses and universities.
He said: "I'm delighted. It’s fantastic news.
"I’m confident that our residents, businesses and universities will reap huge benefits from this success.
“Having a national broadcaster in our region will help make York an even more attractive location for national and international investment.”
