STAFF from a local hair salon, including a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, helped light up York's streets after dark during a fundraising walk.
The team from The Salon in Copmanthorpe, which included Sue Martindale, Charlie Worrall and Laura Mills, wore bright coloured clothing and neon accessories as part of the Shine Night Walk through the city.
They have managed to raise around £900 for Cancer Research UK.
In August last year, mum-of-two Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer, while her mum died in March this year after a battle with bowel cancer.
Sue said: "This is why we wanted to take part.
"Cancer is a subject close to my heart." The 47-year-old added: "The event was fantastic. About 1,200 people did it in total. The atmosphere was brilliant. It was very well organised."
The walk started at Rowntree Park and its 10 kilometre route passed landmarks such as York Minster, Shambles, Clifford’s Tower and finished at The Barbican.
