A HOMEGROWN affordable art exhibition has opened its doors.

Art&York, which was founded by a small, Yorkshire-based team, got underway yesterday at York Racecourse and continues all weekend.

The three-day event is an opportunity for art lovers to meet artists, including the show’s Raw Talent winners - a group of 12 up-and-coming creatives who have been given mentoring as well as the chance to showcase their work.

The theme of this year’s show is ‘home’ and more than 120 artists are displaying their creations, from glass and ceramics, to painting and drawing, jewellery and textiles, sculpture and stonework.

To coincide with the show, it was also announced that art& has won a Yorkshire & the Humber Enterprise Award, for its event management and development of emerging artists.

Co-founders Victoria Robinson and Emily Stubbs said they were “delighted” with their win.
