INSTINCTIVE, curious, bold and bouncy, Sarah is a mighty proud square peg, and that would not be such a problem if the hole were not so round in Art With Heart’s show Declaration.
Created by performer Sarah Emmott and Rachel Moorhouse, and developed with The Lowry in Salford, this slice of physical theatre will be staged at the York Theatre Royal Studio on Thursday (October 25) at 7.45pm.
Sarah grew up feeling different.: her childhood doctor attributed it to sugar; her present doctor thinks Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is the reason. Sarah still feels different, so what will a label do?
Declaration examines when we want, need or are forced to declare our differences and the faces we wear to fit in. Autobiographical comedy, storytelling and conversations with the audience combine as Art With Heart undertake a vibrant and daring adventure.
The show features movement direction by Deb Pugh and lighting design by Aileen Ging and is touring in association with the ADHD Foundation.
Tickets are on sale at £12.50 on 01904 623568 or at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk.
