MOTORISTS are facing delays on a busy road south of York, as work takes place to repair a burst water pipe.

Temporary traffic lights have been put in place on the A19 near Crockey Hill while the pipe is repaired by Yorkshire Water.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said: “Our telemetry system detected low water pressure in the Wheldrake area of York with a technician dispatched to investigate as soon as possible. The technician located a burst with a team sent to fix the pipe. Unfortunately due to the complex nature of the burst work is still ongoing and traffic management is in place. We are working as quickly as possible to fix the leak and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
