THE annual St Leonard’s Hospice in York will be held in a new location next month.

Although the event is historically held at the Hospice in Tadcaster Road, this year it will take place at the Railway Institute in Hamilton Drive, Acomb, between noon and 4pm on Saturday, November 24.

There will be festive refreshments, games and prizes, a tombola and a raffle, with entertainment from a choir, and a visit from Father Christmas on his sleigh.

Sarah Atkinson, event organiser, said help would be needed with gifts and prizes in coming weeks.

She said: "We’d love to see lots of people on 24 November – there’s loads going on so please join us for a festive fun day to raise funds for the Hospice, and please note the location change. Planning is in full flow, and the summer events have depleted our stock of raffle and tombola prizes so if anyone has unwanted bottles or items to donate that would be much appreciated too."

Entry for children is free, and costs a £1 donation for adults, with all funds raised going towards the Hospice’s running costs. The Christmas Fair will also run alongside the Hospice’s Santa Dash for the first time, when runners can don a Santa suit and dash, skip, hop or stroll around the grounds of York Railway Institute.
