TWENTY years ago Pete "The Shark" Ogram played his first gig with York party band Huge as a deputy and impressed so much Big Ian Donaghy  asked him to join.

Since then he has helped to fill York Barbican, the Grand Opera House and numerous lavish events, and tomorrow night he will be in action at Poppleton Centre, near York, at 7.30pm.

“We have two very different sax players," says Big Ian. "Pete’s playing is smooth and lyrical, whereas Kempy is a relentless funky Clarence Clements style player! We once turned down Raif Ravenscroft (the original Baker Street sax player for Gerry Rafferty) to play at the Opera House because Pete could play it perfectly!

"Having the four-piece brass has been a popular feature that has made Huge stand out over the years with ever more ambitious arrangements, and we intend to make Pete sing for his supper tomorrow, so expect a lot of breathtaking solos."
