CITY of York Council has been given £731,000 by the Government to support adult social care needs this winter.

The funding is aimed at people who require care but can be treated outside of hospital, with an aim to free up more hospital beds in coming months.

Councillor Carol Runciman said: "All additional funding is welcome. This will be used in collaboration with NHS partners and in line with our system resilience plans. This will enable us to scale up our capacity to respond to anticipated increases in demand over the winter."
