STEVE Hackett's 2019 European Tour will visit York Barbican on November 19 next year.

For the first time, the former Genesis guitarist will perform Genesis's album Selling England By The Pound in its entirety. Released in 1973, it rose to number three in the British charts on the back of such live favourites as Dancing With The Moonlit Knight, Firth Of Fifth, Cinema Show and I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe. Other classic Genesis numbers will feature in the show too.

Next year also marks the 40th anniversary of Hackett's solo album Spectral Mornings, so he will celebrate this milestone by performing selections from that record too, alongside a showcase of songs from his next album, set for release in 2019.

"I’m thrilled to be performing the whole of my favourite Genesis album, Selling England By The Pound, which caught the attention of John Lennon in 1973," says Hackett, now 68. "I felt that I was now playing guitar in the world’s best band, and everything was opening up for us.

"Also I look forward to playing all the favourite songs from Spectral Mornings, marking its anniversary, plus new album tasters, as well as additional Genesis gems in a terrific grand slam."

Joining Hackett on tour will be his regular band, Roger King, keyboards, Jonas Reingold, bass, Gary O’Toole, drums, Rob Townsend, saxophones and flutes, and Nad Sylvan, vocals.

Hackett will be playing 20 dates next autumn, including further Yorkshire concerts at Sheffield City Hall on November 5 2019 and Halifax Victoria Theatre, November 22. York tickets are on sale on 0844 854 2757 or at yorkbarbican.co.uk; other shows, myticket.co.uk/.
