TWO small cats have been found abandoned on a Newport driveway, prompting an RSPCA plea for information.

A member of the public found the cats callously abandoned on their driveway on Bassaleg Road in the South East Wales city on Wednesday, October 17.

The cats - one who is predominantly white, and the other who is mainly tortoiseshell – are fortunately in good health, but the RSPCA has launched an appeal in the hope of finding out who, and why, they were dumped like this.

Sadly, neither cat is microchipped – and there is no CCTV in the area, which could have helped decipher what happened.

RSPCA animal collection officer Gary Lucas said: “It beggars belief that anyone would deem it acceptable to dump two helpless cats like this.

“These poor felines were found in a box on Bassaleg Road in Newport on Wednesday morning (17 October) - at approximately 8am. Fortunately, both are doing well – but we’re eager to find out what happened to these two.

“Anyone from the local area who may have seen something, has any information, or may know the owner of these cats is urged to contact us. Our inspectorate appeal line can be reached on 0300 123 8018.”
