NEARLY 50 people sporting yellow knitted hats took part in a fundraising walk in East Yorkshire for Children in Need.

The walkers arrived in Market Weighton with their donations and five dogs and set off on either a four-and-a-half mile or two mile walk. The fundraiser was held as part of the Countryfile Ramble for Children in Need. The 46 walkers collected more donations en route.

Organiser, Barry Sedgwick, a Walking for Health walk leader, managed to persuade lots of knitters in the months before to make more than 80 Pudsey Bear beanie hats, which proved popular with walkers and children on the day.

The day before the fundraising walk, six of the walkers had offered to pack shoppers bags in Market Weighton’s Tesco store, either for free or for a donation towards Children in Need. More than £175 was collected. Altogether, the fundraising activities raised in excess of £600 for Children in Need.

Market Weighton is a Walkers are Welcome town.
