BENCHES around York have been given a makeover to mark national Chocolate Week.

Special 'wrappers' have been added to half a dozen benches around the city by York Chocolate Story, to inform the public of York's links to some of the UK's most popular chocolate treats.

Ben Rosenfield, from York Chocolate Story, said the idea was a bit of fun, and something the public could get involved with through social media to help celebrate national Chocolate Week.

He said: "We want to celebrate Chocolate Week in a really special way. We wanted something you could all get involved in here in York, so you'll find six of these benches, each with a different York confectionary item, dotted around the city.

"Sit down, take a selfie, take a picture, share it with us using the hashtag #yorkchocolatecity #onlyinyork #chocolateweek and it's a really great way not just to celebrate chocolate, which everybody loves, but also to celebrate York's unique chocolate heritage because we've got some amazing brands that have come from here."
