A HOMELESS charity is helping young adults gain access to computers so they can complete homework, apply for jobs and update their CVs.

Safe and Sound Homes (SASH), a York-based charity, received a £985 grant from Leeds Building Society Foundation to help people aged between 16 and 25.

Peter Robinson, director of SASH, said: “Providing access to new technology means the people we help are able to work on CVs and apply for jobs with our help.”

Every year SASH helps around 300 young people by offering a room in the home of a ‘host’ volunteer to provide them with a safe environment.

Gary Brook, head of corporate communication at Leeds Building Society and a Foundation Trustee, said: “The Foundation provides funding towards projects that directly support people in need, including those with disabilities, affected by homelessness, or with serious health issues.

“SASH is dedicated to supporting young people at risk of homelessness and we’re pleased our grant will be used to enhance the services offered to young people in York.”
