CITY of York Hockey Club Men I registered their first three points of the North League premier division season.

Al Cockram and Tom Feasby were both on target as City won 2-1 at Formby to climb to eighth in the table and end their hosts' unbeaten start to term.

Formby went into the game understandably confident but their chances were limited well by City's firm back line.

The visitors were looking to play on the break and found joy soon after the 10-minute mark, when Cockram capitalised on an uncleared rebound to fire in a low shot.

York’s front men were impressing in attack but they struggled to create clear-cut opportunities as Formby's rearguard tightened up.

But Feasby was on hand to provide the skill to unlock the defence as he made a run starting near the halfway line, leaving five players in his wake as he zigzagged into the 'D' to fire home.

As the half came to a close, the hosts reduced the deficit with a drag flick from a short corner despite City's strong-looking defence.

In the second half, the visitors kept Formby well at bay, with man-of-the-match Tom Anderson helping the visiting defence keep calm and assured.

York controlled play and closed out the game as Formby were reduced to 10 men.

City of York Men II maintained their 100 per cent home record in Yorkshire League premier division with a 5-2 win over Halifax.

The hosts fell behind after 10 minutes to a penalty stroke, but equalised through Dan Hyden's penalty corner strike. City then raced into a 3-1 lead with goals coming in quick succession from debutant Chris Newton and captain James Fitton.

Halifax pulled a goal back from a penalty corner but, with a minute of the half left, Hyden bagged his second from a Richard Chandler-inspired attack to restore City's two-goal advantage.

A solitary second-half goal from Hamish Broadbent was enough to secure victory for a dominant City.

City of York Ladies I rose to ninth in North League division one with a 2-2 draw at Brooklands Poynton II.

City of York Ladies II made it three wins from three in Yorkshire Ladies League division one as they beat Lindum II 8-1 at home.

The hosts kept cool heads from the off, with Meg Wing the first to find the backboard, and it did not take long for a second to come as Holly Davis netted an elegant pick.

But Fay Chapman and Vicky Skilton had the starring roles in front of goal as the pair bagged a hat-trick apiece.

Lindum's strong attack was eventually rewarded, but it did not dampen the hosts' mood.

City of York Ladies III picked up their first point of this division three campaign with a 3-3 draw Northallerton II. Lauren Susnjara, Liz Armitage and Steph Pearson were on target for the 10th-placed visitors.
