A NEW “Mediterranean-style” restaurant is set to open in Walmgate.
Planning permission was granted in June for the former Alteration Shop, at 74 Walmgate, to become a restaurant. A sign outside the building says it will be named Almaz and will be “York’s first Arabic restaurant”.
The owners have applied for a licence for the “Mediterranean-style” restaurant to serve alcohol during the opening hours, which will be from 12pm to 11pm, seven days a week. The unit is next door to a student accommodation block and planning permission was also granted for two new windows and a flue to be installed on the side of the building.
