SCIENTISTS have said that the impact of microplastics on the environment is unclear.
There is increasing concern over microplastics, but, after reviewing more than 300 global studies, researchers at the University of York have not been able to conclude whether they do or do not cause harm to the environment.
The team found that monitoring has focused on only a fraction of the microplastic size range and future research into their impact needs to be more targeted.
