BRITAIN'S Got Talent 2018 runner-up Robert White tops the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club bill at York Barbican on Friday night.
"Robert is one of a kind," reckons promoter and master of ceremonies Damion Larkin. "You may recognise him from Britain's Got Talent after he wooed the nation with his randomly unique act. He describes himself as 'the world's best Asperger's, gay, dyslexic, cross-lateral, web-toed comedian'. All this makes stand-up the perfect career choice."
Nevertheless, before discovering life as a comic, White had an astonishing total of 67 jobs, even a stint as an organ player. "Gags aplenty and a unique outlook on life make him a superb, consistently funny and inventive comedian," says Larkin. "With talent to burn, he's also a super-skilful musician, weaving catchy and compelling tunes into his act."
Noted for his comic timing, White's chaotic stage presence, improvisational skills and delivery won him the 2010 Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality. His off-the-wall jokes, improvisatory songs, barely believable stories and interactive music stand him far apart from the usual comedy scene.
On the 8pm bill too will be Keith Carter's latest character act, Stacy Silcox, a deadpan comic with more of a leaning to Jack the Ripper than Jack Dee, who combines shaggy dead dog stories with psycho-delic celebrity impressions and psycho-killer punchlines. "Stacy believes he is a family-friendly light entertainer – provided you're friendly with the Manson family, " says Larkin.
Third act Freddie Quinne has a highly original personality, at once vulnerable but more than capable of wining over any crowd with his northern observational humour and clever storytelling. "His willingness to break away from his act and involve the crowd leads for an engaging and memorable set backed up with frantic energy and raw emotion," says Larkin.

Dave Gorman: top of the laptops as he plays York Barbican again
DAVE Gorman will complete a hattrick of York Barbican performances of his With Great PowerPoint Comes Great ResponsibilityPoint show when he heads north on January 25 next year.
Gorman, the comedian behind Modern Life Is Goodish, Are You Dave Gorman? and Googlewhack Adventure, first brought his laptop and projector screen to York on October 10 and 11.
Tickets to see Gorman deliver a third instalment of “detailed analysis of those parts of life you’ve never stopped to think about before” are on sale on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office.
