AS one Guinness World Record attempt was shelved, another was smashed.
Jason Liversidge, who has motor neurone disease, was due to attempt to break the speed record for an electric wheelchair at Elvington Airfield on Tuesday.
The current record for an electric wheelchair is 55mph, but Jason was aiming to top 100mph with his souped-up “vehicle”.
However, due to last-minute technical issues, his plans were thwarted.
Speed fans were still given a thrill, though, as Kevin Nicks smashed his own land-speed record for the fastest motorised shed - for the second time in a month.
In September, Kevin set a new record of just over 100mph with his self-built shed, but yesterday he increased that to 102mph.
Wheelchair racer Jason is now hoping to go for the record next week. See Straightliners news channels on Facebook and Twitter for details.
