POLICE used a stinger to stop a vehicle following a chase from Knaresborough to York.
North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group posted details of the incident - which happened on Monday night - on social media.
A spokesman said: "Our colleagues from the Firearms Support Unit tried to stop a vehicle near Knaresborough which they suspected had no insurance. The vehicle failed to stop for them and was pursued along the A59 to York."
Police said the pursuit continued through the city before heading back out of York through Strensall.
The spokesman added: "We were waiting near Flaxton and managed to deploy a stinger to puncture the tyres. The van continued onto the A64 where a short time later it was boxed in and stopped."
The spokesman said the driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving without insurance, and remained in police custody on Tuesday evening.
