BRAVE volunteers raised more than £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support with a fire walking event near York.
Macmillan hosted the event at Escrick Park Estate on Monday night, which saw participants including Sean Coxhead - the York man who ran the marathon with terminal cancer on Sunday - walk over hot coals for charity.
A spokeswoman for Macmillan said: “We were overwhelmed by the fundraising from our fire walkers, the generosity of their supporters, our volunteers and our sponsors Grosvenor Wealth Management who sponsored the event, Papa Kata who donated the use of the tipi’s, Escrick Park Estate donated the use of their land, local caterers Baba Ganoush donated the delicious evening meal, the Monotones Band donated their time and The Posh Bar Company and Jo’s Kitchen donated their services. All ensured that such a fantastic sum was raised.”
