YORK railway enthusiasts will be the first to experience a collection of new high-tech projects that are the future of innovation in the rail industry.
A new exhibition, called Testing, at The National Railway Museum (NRM), will include the UK’s first prototype Hyperloop pod, the worlds fastest train testing rigs and the Hitachi Rail Class 800, the UK’s most high speed train, that is due to run on the East Coast Main Line from next year.
Visitors will also be able to go behind the scenes and step inside the laboratories and test stations where new ideas and rail technologies are trialled
Charlotte Kingston, head of design at the NRM, said: “Testing is our first exhibition in almost a year and it has been created to give visitors a unique snapshot into the rigorous and intensive research and development that goes on behind the scenes.”
The display started last Friday and will run until April 28, 2019.
