EBORACUM Sessions, the first music event of its kind in York, launch the second instalment of their six-hour Acoustic and Folk Sesh gatherings at the Black Swan Inn, in Peasholme Green, on Saturday.

Showcasing six established musical acts from across Yorkshire, the family-friendly sessions have been created to "offer audiences a live music experience in one of York’s finest pubs".

Curator Ellen Cole says: "The first event in July was a huge success and we received many rave reviews from the public who wanted to see more six-hour music sessions take place.

"The second event includes a wide range of folk and acoustic styles and I'm really looking forward to seeing what audiences think of this Saturday’s session. My aim for the Acoustic and Folk Sesh is to attract a wide range of audiences: music lovers and those who have little experience of shows or have never attended a music gig before. At Eboracum Sessions, people can enjoy great food and drink while listening to the work of the finest acoustic and folk musicians that Yorkshire has to offer. I'm super-happy with the line-up for the second event and there's something for everyone to enjoy."

Saturday's session in the Wolfe Room features guitar and mandolin-led Celtic bluegrass fusion duo Bella Gaffney & Polly Bolton; the mesmerising alt. folk musician Katie Spencer; female duo Union Jill, whose shows combine harmonies, intelligent songs and banter; York folk legend David Ward Maclean; Nick Hall, from Plumhall, playing a rare North Yorkshire solo set; and lastly, Rich Hardcastle and Friends, making a rare home-city appearance.

"We're 55 per cent of the way to being sold out, but there'll be tickets available throughout the day, so please do pop down, even if it’s for a few hours. Children can come into the music session for free if they're accompanied by an adult. It’s going to be an incredible day with performances from acts that you wouldn’t normally see together on one line-up; it’s definitely one not be missed."

Doors open at 2.45pm for Saturday's 3pm to 9pm session. Tickets cost £6, plus booking fee, at eventbrite.co.uk/e/eboracum-session or £8 on the day, subject to availability.
