FIREFIGHTERS helped rescue a woman from scaffolding in York in the early hours of this morning (October 16).
A fire crew was called to the incident on Rougier Street at around 4.20am.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters walked the woman back down from scaffolding five storeys above ground, and into the care of police.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police commented: "We were called by a member of the public who was concerned for the welfare of a woman on scaffolding at a building site in Rougier Street, York.
"Police officers attended and spoke to the woman, and with the help of firefighters, she was brought down to safety.
"She was detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act, and taken to hospital to receive the care she needs."
