MCDONALD’S has apologised to firefighters for not offering them free drinks at their Clifton Moor branch as crews tackled a huge fire at B&M.
The company has also offered to reimburse a woman who reportedly brought drinks for firefighters at the fast food restaurant.
A post shared more than 5,000 times on Facebook criticised staff at McDonald’s on Clifton Moor for reportedly not offering free cups of tea and coffee to members of the emergency services as they fought the huge fire at the B&M store.
The post says a woman at the restaurant stepped in and brought a round of drinks for the firefighters herself.
A spokesman for McDonald’s said: “We value the fantastic work of our emergency services and thank the individuals that dedicate their lives to protecting our local community.
“On this occasion, we would like to apologise to the firefighters who bravely tackled last night’s fire. They should have been provided with free refreshments on the night as a small recognition for their efforts. McDonald’s will of course be happy to reimburse the member of public involved and we will be in touch directly with our local fire and rescue service.”
