A MAN has been arrested after a car crashed into a tractor, causing it to turn over.
Police spotted a green Mitsubishi Shogun travelling along the A170 towards Scarborough and requested the vehicle to stop.
But the driver failed to stop and crashed into a tractor near Ebberston at about 10.45am yesterday, Saturday.
The tractor overturned and the driver and a passenger in the Mitsubishi suffered minor injuries.
Another passenger in the Mitsubishi suffered serious injuries and has been taken to Scarborough Hospital.
The road was closed in both directions until 5pm.
A 29-year-old man from Redcar has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop and remains in police custody.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witness the crash or who saw the Mitsubishi Shogun before the crash to call 101 and ask to speak to Traffic Constable Mark Patterson or Inspector Dave Barf.
