NORTHERN Rail will be hit by yet another strike tomorrow in the continuing row over guards and safety on its trains.
The RMT union said its 31st day of strike action was against the extension of driver only operated trains.
It said the York-based company was continuing to refuse to engage in serious and meaningful talks around a guarantee that guards would continue on its trains.
RMT general secretary Mick Cash said the union had secured agreements on other English franchises that enshrined the guard guarantee, adding: "We thank the public for their support and understanding throughout this dispute over rail safety and access."
Richard Allan, of Northern, has previously condemned the strikes as 'disappointing and frustrating' and a blow for customers, adding that Northern was doing everything possible to find a solution to the dispute.
