A CYCLING hub allowing visitors to hire bikes has been officially opened in Dalby Forest.

The ribbon was cut at Dalby Forest Cycle Hub last Wednesday by Sir Gary Verity from Welcome to Yorkshire.

Dalby Forest Cycle Hub is a not-for-profit community interest company. Its directors are David and Jane Beeley of Big Bear Bikes in Pickering, and Rob Brown and Pete Blood from Scarborough and Ryedale Community Cycling CIC.

Its aim is to provide everyone with a wide range of cycling opportunities in the iconic forest.

Sir Gary said: “What the team have done to create this is fantastic and should be applauded, especially making cycling accessible to everyone.”

Dalby Forest, owned by the Forestry Commission, boasts a range of trails covering more than 50 miles, which are suitable for beginners and family cycling through to challenging mountain bike routes and a world cup

Rob Brown said: “Our concept and vision is to create cycling opportunities for everyone, regardless of age, experience or ability. Located in the beautiful surroundings of Dalby Forest with its myriad of trails that heighten your senses, our range of bikes help create a feeling of freedom, whether you are riding a top end full suspension or sharing a side-by-side companion bike.”
