ALISTAIR Griffin's songs have soundtracked some of the nation's biggest sporting moments and even a royal wedding. Now the York singer -songwriter is to take his uplifting anthems on tour .

"With sell-out shows in Manchester, London and Bristol under my belt and fresh from supporting Pixie Lott and Scouting For Girls at Flamingo Land's Party In The Park, I'm particularly looking forward to one of my biggest shows in York to date, playing the Clarence Club, in Clarence Street, on October 27," says Alistair.

"The York gig is always the biggest on tour but the tickets for this one are really flying. It'll be a great atmosphere."

Alongside the tour, Alistair is releasing Dreamers On The Run, an acoustic album of cover songs featuring favourites performed on the tour. Among them will be This Is Me from The Greatest Showman soundtrack, Crowded House's Fall At Your Feet and Only You, the Yazoo song he covered for a montage of the BBC's royal wedding coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big day in May.

"Obviously I'm known as a songwriter and covers isn't really what I do, but I've had some success with Only You being used by the BBC and there's a real demand on social media for this kind of thing, so I've put a little album together."

Since being discovered on the BBC talent show Fame Academy in 2002, Griffin has gained a reputation for writing anthems to accompany TV's big sporting moments, from Just Drive for Sky Sports' Formula One coverage to The Road for Le Grand Depart for the Tour de France in 2014.

"Getting your songs on TV is a great way to reach new audiences these days," says Alistair. "I'm really looking forward to getting out and playing these songs live."

Doors open at 7.30pm on October 27; tickets are on sale at alistairgriffin.eventbrite.co.uk
