THE drawings that brought Roald Dahl’s loveable Big Friendly Giant to life have gone on display at York Art Gallery.
The BFG in Pictures exhibition contains 40 original artworks by Quentin Blake, including rarely seen unpublished illustrations of the BFG that provide a unique insight into the development of one of the most iconic characters in children’s literature.
A gallery spokesman said visitors could also "wander into ‘Giant Country’, catching phizzwizzards in the BFG’s cave and enjoying a story in ‘Sophie’s Bedroom’ as well as participating in a programme of gloriumptious activities and events".
Kirstie Blything, ofYork Museums Trust, said she was "thrilled" to be hosting the exhibition. “This magical story of huge giants, a little girl called Sophie, dream catching, snozzcumbers and whizzpops is a favourite to all ages,” she said.
The exhibition will run until February 24, 2019.
