THE Proclaimers' 7.30pm show at York Barbican on October 17 has sold out as the Scottish twins return to North Yorkshire after playing Scarborough Spa Grand Hall in July.

Craig and Charlie Reid will be showcasing their latest studio album, Angry Cyclist, released in August on Cooking Vinyl as the follow-up to 2015's Let’s Hear It For The Dogs.

Strings adorn the title track, the Leith twins' response to "the reactionary and bigoted times we live in", and their coruscating, dry-witted observations continue on Looted, a song about "the theft of the British Empire", and Classy, with its "wry look at the ludicrous strata of the British class system". Elsewhere, Streets Of Edinburgh is a moving paean to their home city and You Make Me Happy and Sometimes It’s The Fools are jauntily joyful.

The Proclaimers move on to the East Riding on October 20 for a 7.30pm gig at Hull City Hall; box office, 01482 300306 or
