ONE young fan of a documentary series about the country's longest road was invited to go behind the scenes and meet the traffic officers who star in the show.
Jack Ryding, from Haxby, and his friend Freddie Marshall donned their high vis jackets and went behind the scenes of BBC series A1: Britain’s Longest Road. The show, which airs on BBC1 and has about 1.5 million viewers, features Highways England traffic officers helping people on the A1.
The pair were invited to visit the team's headquarters in Wakefield where they got the opportunity to visit the control room, meet the camera operators and sit in the traffic officer vehicle.
Jack said: “I really love watching the documentary and coming to the North East control centre and meeting the team involved has been a great experience. I loved being in the traffic officer vehicle and sounding the bullhorn and meeting the staff in the control room to look at what really goes on behind the scenes.”
Highways England regional director Richard Marshall said: “The series has really captured the imagination of millions of BBC viewers of all ages, but at just 12 years old, Jack must be one of our youngest fans."
