JAMALI Maddix, one of most promising and exciting acts to hit the comedy circuit in years, plays the Burning Duck Comedy Club in York on Wednesday night at The Crescent at 7.30pm.
“With an assured stage presence and considered material that comes from a fresh perspective, he already has the aura of a successful comic well beyond his years,” says promoter Al Greaves. “His natural confidence and charm allow him to tread gracefully across more sensitive topics.”
Maddix has became one of the faces of the new Viceland TV channel, hosting his own series Hate Thy Neighbour. Prompted by the rise of the far right around the world, he has met controversial groups across the world.
Jamali Maddix: "Treading gracefully across sensitive topics“
Now Jamali is heading out on his first world tour, delivering brutally honest and unflinching material on the state of society, along with personal tales from his travels around the world of hate and moral confrontation,” says Al.
“I’m delighted to be bringing Jamali to York with his Vape Lord show. The Crescent is fast establishing itself as one of the best live music and comedy venues in York, alongside our other regular venue at The Basement at City Screen.
"Our other comedy shows at The Crescent with Paul Foot, Josie Long and Rob Auton were very successful and we’re also looking forward to Ed Gamble returning to The Crescent next year .”
Tickets for Jamali Maddix: Vape Lord are available at £13, concessions £11, at burningduckcomedy.com or in person from the The Crescent.
