MOTORISTS faced rush hour chaos after a four-car crash blocked the Outer Ring Road between Grimston Bar and Hopgrove roundabout.

Long queues built up on the A64 approach to Hopgrove roundabout on the westbound carriageway and stretched back as far as the Sand Hutton turnoff.

The roundabout itself was very congested.

The road was closed between Hopgrove, where the northern A1237 ring road meets the A64 and Malton Road, and Grimston Bar, the junction of the A64, A166 Bridlington Road and the A1079 Hull road.

The collision happened at about 4.20pm on the westbound carriageway. Four cars were involved.

North Yorkshire firefighters, who have attended the collision, reported that there were only minor injuries and no-one was trapped in any of the cars.
