IT is high fives all around for the photographers who took today’s selection of photographs from The Press Camera Club. Because let’s face it, these are pictures worth celebrating.

The biggest high five, naturally, has to go to Hannah Stockdale for her arresting photo of... a high-fiving red squirrel. Pure joy. But the other photos are seriously good, too. The texture of the conker in Emma Precious’ photo - with just that small bead of moisture to set it off - is sumptuous. as is the purity of Joy Stead’s yellow rose.

Nigel Blackman’s haberdashery is an almost abstract exploration of colour, while Sue Gabbatiss’ dandelion head has the vulnerability of a fleeting moment: you just know that one breath of wind will mar the perfection forever.

There’s a lovely sense of hushed peace to Garry Hornby’s Skeldergate sunset: while the fallen giant in Brian Hughes’s tree photo is gnarled and knotted and twisted with age. It’s like time given physical form.

Some of these photos were taken on mobile phones, other’s weren’t. But for those camera club members who want to be in with a chance of winning this month’s competition - theme #mobilephone - there are still a few days to get your entries in...
