YORK'S 50+ Festival has got under way with a host of activities for over-50s to enjoy.

Physical events range from walks and yoga to Tai Chi and Qi Gong, and English and Scottish dancing.

There is also the opportunity to try something new, from mindful meditation and confidence building to rowing, bridge, creative writing, fishing and French, said spokeswoman Claire King, adding that the festival programme was available in library and community centres.
