A YORK cookery teacher has raised about £1,800 so far in her campaign to help flood victims in India’s stricken state Kerala.
Sharmini Thomas, of Strensall, told in August how she was backing a York Indian Cultural Association appeal to help the people of Kerala rebuild their infrastructure and homes after devastating flooding.
She said yesterday she had teamed up with Coconut Lagoon who prepared delicious Kerala street food sold at a charity stall sponsored by York Food Festival last week, and another stall would be held from 9am to 5 pm in Friday near Brown’s store, while she would be giving a cookery demonstration in a nearby tent in St Helen's Square at 4pm.
