BLUES singer and soulful balladeer Elkie Brooks plays York Barbican on Saturday night at 7.30pm.
Now 73, the husky Salford vocalist first sang with the bands Dada and Vinegar Joe (alongside Robert Palmer) before launching her solo career in the 1970s, notching hits with Pearl’s A Singer, Lilac Wine, Fool (If You think It’s Over), Don’t Cry Out Loud and No More The Fool.
