HORSE owners and riders in and around Selby can have their equipment marked for free by police this weekend.
North Yorkshire Police officers will be at R&R Country in Hemingbrough, on Saturday, September 29, between 10am and 2pm.
Property will be marked and logged onto a national database, and if recovered following theft, can be easily returned to the rightful owner.
PCSO Caroline Saville said: "Marking items of tack is one of the most effective crime deterrents. Criminals will see the permanent unique number, and know immediately that the equipment would be too difficult to sell on. If the worst happened and you were targeted, we are much more likely to be able to trace marked property and return it to you. Our property marking service is fast and free, so please make a note of the date and come along on the day."
