ONE OF Yorkshire’s small producers is set to tickle the nation’s tastebuds thanks to a tasty collaboration.

To coincide with the launch of it new menu, national chain Revolution has teamed up with The Chilli Jam Man, which is based in Thixendale in the Wolds.

Simon Barrett, aka The Chilli Jam Man, fell in love with South East Asian flavours while living in Australia.

When he returned to the UK, he started making chilli products for himself in his own kitchen.

Nine years on, he is a Great Taste producer and has seen his products used in everything from ice cream, to sausages, brownies and beer.

Now, his chilli sauces will be enjoyed nationwide, gracing the tables and several menu choices in all of Revolution’s bars and restaurants.

Revolution menu items to feature the sauces include the Chilli Slider Challenge and the Let’s Meat Up sharing plate, while customers can also enjoy sauces such as Rib Tickler BBQ sauce, Smoked Ghost ketchup and Carolina Reaper.

Simon said: “I’m over the moon to be working with such a recognised brand. It’s been a long journey, but the feedback has been amazing.

“This is our most exciting collaboration to date - we never thought we’d be involved in a revolution!”

The Revolution Kitchen AW18 menu launched on September 12 and The Chilli Jam Man has already noticed an impact on sales.

Simon said: “I’ve been blown away by the feedback we’ve received so far. Since the launch we’ve seen orders go through the roof. We’re currently working through the night to keep up with demand.

“If you’d told me nine years ago when I was taking my first batch of 40 jars to my local farmers market I wouldn’t have believed it.”

Simon’s enthusiasm is shared by the staff at York’s Revolution bar, off Coney Street, who were keen to tell him how much they had enjoyed sampling the new menu for themselves.

They even rewarded him with a 20ml Carolina Reaper sauce giveaway for completing the Chilli Slider Challenge.

Simon, previously a mortgage broker, also has collaborations with other Yorkshire-based businesses, including Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil and York Brewery.
