NEW affordable homes - being built by Selby and District Housing Trust and to be managed by Selby District Council – have been officially opened in a North Yorkshire village.
The five new homes, in Jubilee Close, Riccall, are part of a partnership between the trust and the council to deliver new high quality affordable properties for families and individuals across the area.
Chair of the Trust, Cllr John Mackman, said: “When the Housing Trust started developing these new properties we wanted to focus on creating the best possible quality homes for our tenants.
“It’s really important for the Trust to be able to support high quality housing in the district, as part of our commitment to helping families and individuals in need of affordable homes. I’m delighted that families and individuals will soon be living in them.”
School children from Riccall Community Primary School were invited to come up with the names for the development, with Jubilee Close a popular suggestion by many of the children.
Nicola Rodwell, age 10, was chosen to receive the prize of a voucher.
Applications for the homes will be managed through the North Yorkshire Homechoice scheme, which covers properties managed by the district council and the housing trust and other housing associations.
