A CLOTHES and accessories brand could open a branch in St Helen's Square.

Plans have been submitted for the Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop, between Betty's and The Ivy, to become a branch of fashion brand Jaeger.

The new store would be fitted out with clothes rails around the walls, tables, padded benches and two changing rooms on the ground floor.

A planning application has been submitted for the shopfront to be repainted and new signs to be installed, but documents say no modifications will be made to the interior of the building.

The applicants say: "The general appearance of the unit will be as Jaeger’s corporate standard adapted to maintain the character of this listed building.

"The existing shopfront is to be retained and painted.

"The proposed white and grey colours for the signage and the grey for the shopfront would not have a detrimental effect on the character of this heritage asset, or any adjacent or the conservation area."

Jaeger have been approached for a comment.
