FLYING Ducks Youth Theatre will hold open auditions for next April's show, Summer Holiday, at Wigginton Primary School, Westfield Lane, York, on Sunday from 1.30pm.

"We're seeking children in Year 7 and upwards and more information can be found on our website, including on how to obtain an audition pack," says Flying Ducks' Pam Davies.

Summer Holiday will run at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, from April 11 to 13 2019 at 7.30pm nightly, plus a 2.30pm Saturday matinee. Tickets are on sale already on 01904 501935 or at josephrowntreetheatre.co.uk/events/.

Flying Ducks performs one show a year, in the spring, and has two age groups, Ducklings aged up to 12, and Flying Ducks aged 12 to 18. The York youth theatre presented its first production, Is That My Line?, with a cast of 24 on May 1 1996 at Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church and has since built a reputation for lively and entertaining musical theatre, staging its 26th show, Disney's High School Musical On Stage, at the JoRo in March this year.

"Flying Ducks has been going for many years, started up by Steve Outhwaite for children who wanted to perform and learn about drama, and has given many children confidence in themselves," says Pam.

"Looking ahead, we now have a new chair, Helen Cooper, and new director, Ann McCreadie, alongside musical director Joe Christie and assistant director and choreographer Sara Howlett."
